Enter a description for your port forwarding rule and provide a list of one or more ports to forward. You can specify port ranges or forward a list of ports using a single preset.
You can also specify a specific remote host. If you enter an IP address, only traffic from that IP address will be forwarded to your computer from your router. However, you could also use this application to forward ports to multiple different computers on your network. Select a preset and click the Use button to activate it. You can remove port mappings by selecting them and clicking the Remove button.
The port mappings will be saved on your router until its UPnP data is cleared — depending on your router, this may happen when your router is restarted. With your presets, you can quickly and easily apply these port mapping settings on any network with a router that supports UPnP — this can be convenient if you move around and need to forward ports for gaming, servers, or other purposes.

Now that your Chromecast is ready to go, you should optimize your Plex server for streaming to Chromecast devices.
If you notice performance problems, like stuttering or audio de-sync, here are a few settings you can change to fix them and improve playback. You should make two changes to your general configuration in order to reduce the size of the files you have to stream to your Chromecast device. I contacted the manufacturer and got a useful response that solved my problem. I copy below the long message that I got from them. Their approach was too complicated for me to do all their steps but it turned out that doing just one of the steps was all that I needed. The critical step was to put the Gateway into DMZplus mode whatever that is!
I still don't understand step 6 but it didn't seem critical. I would recommend putting the gateway in DMZplus mode. If this works then you will know that you need to open up some ports.
In order to place a device on your home network into DMZplus mode, use the following steps: 1. Select the "Settings" in the top row of the page. Select the "Firewall" tab in the second row. Enter the system password for your 2Wire Gateway. By default this is on a sticker on the side labeled "system password" or "device access code" 6. Click the "Allow all applications DMZplus mode " radio button.
Apply the setting by clicking the SAVE button at the bottom of the page. Reboot the device that was placed in DMZplus mode. If that works then I have provided instructions for port forwarding below. To forward a port through the firewall of your 2Wire to a specific device, please follow the following instructions: 1. Select the "Settings" tab in the first row 3. Select the "Firewall" tab in the second row 4. Click the "Add a new user-defined application" link if the application you are using is not in the pre-configured list - If the application is on the pre-configured list, skip the next 3 steps 6.
Name your rule in the Application Name box 7. Select the port or port range you wish to open, the protocol, and any other settings specified by the manufacturer of your application - If multiple non-sequential ports are required to be opened, add each port's information then click the "Add To List" button 8. Once all needed ports are added, click the BACK button 9.
You will see the new rule Application Name on the list on the left Add this rule so it appears on the right Apply the setting by clicking the DONE button at the bottom of the page
